It is a rare thing indeed when a cover tune ventures into dangerous territory… the territory of possibly being as good as the original. Even rarer still when the song is as revered as Led Zeppelin’s Babe I’m Gonna Leave You, a song you had better not attempt unless you can summon some serious Robert Plant-esque vocal power.
One thing is for certain… Pink needs to do much, much more of this.
When Zeppelin broke up after John Bonham’s death, I finally knew how Beatles fans felt when that band called it quits. However, just like Lennon and McCartney went onto make their own separate brand of history, Plant and Page did the same thing.
Plant went on to do some incredible solo work…
and Page found Paul Rodgers and created The Firm.
And then they had a reunion (of sorts) with the Honeydrippers.
